Chris Wind - Rocks and Trees (Cassette)
My interest in musician and writer Chris Wind was piqued when I found a charming handmade cassette in my friend’s collection with an address in Huntsville, a small northern Ontario town where my grandparents lived when I was a child. It’s a beautiful blip on a map surrounded by deep forest, and it’s exciting to think that somebody was up there tinkering on synthesizers and home-recording when I was lounging lakeside with my Gramps.
Rocks and Trees had me a the title. The Trees side is leafy and mellow, and things really pick up on the Rocks side with 808 and synth workouts. Who knew the Canadian Shield had so much pent up energy.
Unplayed vintage cassette.
