Chris Wind - The Art of Juxtaposition (Cassette)
My interest in musician and writer Chris Wind was piqued when I found a charming handmade cassette in my friend’s collection with an address in Huntsville, a small northern Ontario town where my grandparents lived when I was a child. It’s a beautiful blip on a map surrounded by deep forest, and it’s exciting to think that somebody was up there tinkering on synthesizers and home-recording when I was lounging lakeside with my Gramps.
I think this rejection letter from a record company sums up The Art of Juxtaposition well: “We found that the music was unique, brilliant, and definitely not ‘Canadian’. Chris Wind is a very talented individual. We were more than impressed with the material. The Art of Juxtaposition is filling one of the emptier spaces in the music world with creative and intelligent music-art.” I guess this record company wasn’t ready for Chris’ 808 ode to pubescent love. Their loss is our gain.
Unplayed vintage cassette.
