Larry Chernicoff - Gallery Of Air (LP)
Larry Chernicoff’s Gallery Of Air from 1983 is a bit of a revelation in the 80s US avant scene. Seeming to straddle continents, it takes cues from North American luminaries such as Phillip Glass and Steve Reich, while simultaneously feeling the buzz from overseas, sipping from the cups of ECM ethno-jazz (at this point Don Cherry was more Euro than US) and even Faustian Krautrock. Woodstock, New York was recently compiled by Fergus Clarke and Optimo on their fantastic Miracle Steps compilation, but the whole LP is worth owning.
